This week’s show – Toledo on the move

Friday, February 25th, 2011

Dear Friends and Family,

Mayor Mike Bell has been in office in Toledo now for just over a year. During that time he has accomplished the following:

  • balanced a budget deficit and worked on a new plan for collecting the trash
  • worked on the merger of Toledo and Ottawa Hills fire departments, part of a new strategy of regionalism
  • Mike and the administration are looking to take care of Toledo’s aging infrastructure, similar to what many homeowners have done through lean years, putting off needed repairs and replacement.
  • Finally, what may turn out to be a new direction of investment and development in Toledo, Mayor Bell has contracted to sell the “Docks” commercial establishment, and possibly the Marina District. These areas of Toledo have lagged through years of commercial promises and hopes, and now through Mayor Bell’s leadership, a group is involved that can interject new capital and ideas into these projects.

Tune into A Firm Foundation radio show this Saturday, beginning at 9:00 a.m. on AM1470: Ticket to your community, to hear about all of these issues that Mayor Bell will discuss with N.W. Ohio’s most trusted and experienced hosts. For your convenience, this show will be available as a podcast at www.1065theticket.com. Follow the podcast link in the yellow cube.

This week’s show – Groundhog’s Day ’11

Friday, February 4th, 2011

Dear Friends and Family,

We spoke too soon last weekend on A Firm Foundation, as we were celebrating passing the anniversary of the Blizzard of ‘78, on January 26th. Little did we know what was awaiting us on Groundhog Day ‘11. It wasn’t as bad as the Blizzard. Two days later and we now have everything cleaned up and back to normal.

This Saturday on A Firm Foundation it’s back to the studio, and our first visit this year with our senior economic adviser, Patricia Powell, owner of Powell Investment Group of Martinsville, NJ, just 50 miles from the City. Patricia is a frequent contributor on Fox News Channel on a variety of economic issues. We think there is a distinct comparison between New Jersey and Ohio. New Jersey is a year ahead of Ohio with the election of Chris Christie as their Governor. Pat will be joining during the heart of the program.

There are still pictures below of dirty furnace filters. If you still haven’t changed yours, it’s time!
