January 2015 going in the record books

Hello Everyone,   the last Saturday in January 2015,  and N. W. Ohio’s most trusted hosts hit the road again,  but not far from home,  Bowling Green State University Student Union Grand Ballroom.    It’s the biggest social event of the year, dress up,  and show your stuff,  the annual Chamber Dinner and Community Meeting.    But at 9:00 am.   A Firm Foundation for Life will be there talking with one of the major sponsors of the event and one of the major supporters in the community,  Union Bank,  where the money’s at!    Joining us live will be personal banker Paul Walker,  and loan originator Dave Anderson.    Much of the discussion will focus on credit,  what’s your credit score?   How do you find out?   How do you repair lousy credit?   Let Rick and Jackie ask the questions,  and the the bankers give us the answers.   No bankers hours for these two,  they will be working on Saturday.    Also later in the program,  we will talk about business and parking,  local business can’t happen anywhere,  if there is not adequate parking!

Tune into A Firm Foundation 4 Life locally on   AM1470 WLQR,  or streamed live on the internet at:   <www.talkradio1470.com>  also on I-Heart radio.

Last Weeks Show – How’s Your IQ?

Thursday, January 29th, 2015

A wise man once said,  “it’s one thing not to believe in God,  it’s another not to believe in insurance.”

This Saturday N. W. Ohio’s most trusted hosts welcome Doug and Phil Simmons insurance experts from Wood County Insurance.   Not too long ago,  the Red Cross told Rick and Jackie on A Firm Foundation for Life,  that one of their biggest challenges after a fire in the Toledo area is for people with NO renter’s insurance.    We will feature on this program an in depth look at renter’s insurance,  one of the lowest cost insurances people can have to protect them,   and if you live in a big complex,  who knows what you neighbor might be doing that could result in a fire?

A Firm Foundation for Life starts at 9:00 am.  and is heard locally at  AM1470  WLQR,   is streamed live at:   <www.talkradio1470.com> and also on I-Heart radio.

This Week’s Show – It’s Tax Time!!!!!!!!!!

Thursday, January 15th, 2015

It’s tax time,  as in real estate taxes,  and joining N. W. Ohio’s most trusted hosts this Saturday in studio is Lucas County Auditor Anita Lopez and some of her deputies.   Leading the discussion this year will be highlights from the newspaper list of delinquent land tax notices,  52 pages full in Lucas County,   about 5 pages here in Wood County.   Real estate taxes in Lucas county are due on January 31,  in Wood County February 13,  taxes must be paid to avoid the 10% penalty.  Also of significant interest will be the changes in value on CAUV and the large increases in AG taxes.

Tune in beginning at 9:00 am . .to  AM1470 WLQR,  or hear the broadcast streamed live at:   <www.talkradio1470.com>   also on I-Heart radio.

This week’s show – Winter has arrived

Friday, January 9th, 2015

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Winter finally arrived in N. W. Ohio about a month late, so in just a few weeks we will all be talking spring. This Saturday N. W. Ohio’s most trusted hosts welcome Carlton Holly Hollister to the studio.

Holly has prepared a special report, Retirement Roadshow. This report will address all the changes the State has made in retirement programs, STRS, SERS, and OPERS. These changes go into effect this year, so for all those affected this will be the year to decide. The right choice for each person can mean thousands of dollars in retirement benefits.

Rick and Jackie will use this time with Holly to talk about general retirement issues for everyone during this program. This winter Saturday will be your day to learn about all these retirement issues, decisions, and choices that eventually affect everyone.

The program this Saturday begins at 9:00 am. and can be heard locally on AM1470 WLQR, and is streamed live at www.talkradio1470.com and also on I-Heart radio.

Remember all the fuss about y-2k? Gosh, 15 yrs. has gone by already! N. W. Ohio’s longest running radio talk show, now A Firm Foundation for Life is in their 15th year too, and on the first Saturday of the new year, it’s time to talk about a never ending job, remodeling and maintenance.

Joining Rick and Jackie this Saturday on the program, he was once a young guy starting out, now he is one of the more experienced veterans in the area, Gary Rieman, owner of Rieman Construction. Whether it’s a kitchen, bathroom, family room, replacement windows, or a ramp to make a home accessible, both Rick and Gary have done several each!
