The building block of our country.

Concrete,  most people don’t give it a thought and it looks harmless,   cement, sand, stone, and water,  what’s the big deal?  Jordan Schmeltz joins us Saturday.   Jordan has grown up in the business,  Palmer Brothers Concrete.  Surprisingly you’ll learn too,  it’s not for dummies,  education,  technical training,  and experience are all requirements for a career in the concrete business.   You might be surprised to learn too how highly regulated the industry is too which has led to nationwide shortages from time to time and caused spikes in pricing,  which has led to increased construction costs,  why is it so expensive to build a house?

The program can be heard live beginning at 9:00 am. on 1370 WSPD,  or streamed live at:   wspd.com and remotely anywhere on the I-Heart radio media app.

Retirement has been short lived,  the sign is out,  and very soon this lot will be full of concrete trucks as Rick begins work on a fine custom home just south of Bowling Green,  stay tuned for updates as progress happens.

Have you mowed yet?   Are your taxes paid?

A lot going on this time of the year,   income taxes due on Monday,  and in many cases yards are being mowed.   That’s why N. W. Ohio’s most trusted hosts are always seasonally relevant,  this Saturday we are joined in studio with Chuck Dobson,  this area’s author of green,  weed-free yards at TruGreen in Perrysburg.   All the topics about your yard,  weeds,  crab grass,  mowing height ,  and lawn watering,  (no need to worry about that for weeks!)   The program starts Saturday at 9:00 am.  and is heard locally on N. W. Ohio’s #1 station  1370 WSPD,   is streamed worldwide at:  wspd.com  and heard on your remote device anywhere with the I-Heart media app.

Masters week and what’s our weather like

Thursday, April 6th, 2017

Hi Friends,   this week’s weather is not the worst we have had during Masters week,  the worst was the 8” snowfall on Masters weekend in 1979,   but it’s surely going to go down as second worst.   Many times during Masters week it’s 70 or 80 degrees here too.   This Saturday on A Firm Foundation for Life,  we are going to talk golf and look ahead to this year’s Marathon Classic in July,   we know it will be nice by then!

This Saturday beginning at 9:00 am.   we welcome again to the Masters Saturday show,   our friend from the Augusta Chronicle,  Sports Editor and long time Masters local  correspondent,  John Boyette,   John has a long history at the Masters and his insight on Saturday right from the new Press facility at Augusta National is always something to look forward too.   If you have watched any of the Masters broadcasts so far you’ll see the series of tributes to the King,  Arnold Palmer,  his passing last September was the loss of a national treasure.

As always the program is heard locally on  AM1370  WSPD,   and streamed live at:  wspd.com  and easily heard on the I-Heart Radio app on your mobile device.

Pictured with Rick and Jackie is Seo Yeon Ryu,   last week’s major champion on the LPGA,   and former champion at the Marathon Classic.   When this picture was taken Seo Yeon couldn’t speak much more English than to just nod, smile, and say thank you,  after her victory last week she gave a very good interview in very good English.

Tune into A Firm Foundation for Life on Saturday morning then tune into the Masters Saturday afternoon and enjoy the golf!
