More Water!

Thursday, April 19th, 2018

Hey get a load of this!

You have heard recent news about steel and aluminum and tariffs and how important these industries are to the security of our country!   No one ever talks about cement,  the main ingredient in concrete,  the building block of our country.  Very little cement is manufactured in our country anymore,  most of it is imported,  in this area from Canada,  some from Mexico,  and some from very far away.  Where is all the cement going to come from if we re-build the Nation’s infrastructure?

This Saturday at 9:00 am. and Sunday at 7:00 am.  N. W. Ohio’s most trusted hosts welcome back to the program,  Jordan Schmeltz,  one of the principles in Palmer Brothers Concrete,  with plants in Bowling Green,  Fremont,  Tiffin, and Napoleon.   Jordan has grown up in the business and brings wealth of knowledge to this important subject you need to hear about!

A Firm Foundation for Life is heard locally on 1370 WSPD,  can be streamed on the internet at:  <wspd.com>  remotely on your I-Phone with the I-Heart radio media app.  or you can watch the interview on Facebook Live @   “A Firm Foundation for Life”

Pictured with Rick and Jackie from last week’s program is Dr. Tim Murnen,  coordinator of Literacy in the Park which happens Saturday at 10:00 am. at the Perry Field House at B.G.S.U.  Nationally famous author,  Don Tate will be there to do presentations during the event.

Is it finally here?   Springtime in Ohio

74 degrees as I write this note to you!   Just yesterday it was snowing,   and everyone is tired of the lousy spring weather thus far,  but the change is here,  and Saturday is Kiwanis Pancake Day at Bowling Green High School.   $6 all you can eat pancakes and sausage,  7:00 am. till 1:00 pm. . .  N. W. Ohio’s most trusted hosts will be there early,  (first to be served),  then it’s off to the studio to talk about a very big family event coming up on Saturday April 21 at the Field House at B.G.S.U.,  “Literacy in the Park”.   In just over 10 years this event has grown to one of the biggest single day events in Bowling Green.

Joining Rick and Jackie in studio Dr. Tim Murnen,  one of the event coordinators,  and special guest via the phone children’s author and illustrator from Austin, Don Tate.   It will  be interesting to find out from these experts,  in today’s high tech world, literacy is still an important skill,  that parents and other family members can instill in children at a young age!

Winter in Ohio

Springtime in Augusta  . . . . wintertime still here in Ohio

This Saturday on A Firm Foundation for Life,  our 16th consecutive year of covering one of the world’s greatest sporting events,  the 82nd playing of the Masters Tournament in Augusta, Georgia.   Jim Nantz,  was quoted last week,  “this year’s Masters was the most anticipated in his 33 years of anchoring the Master’s telecasts”.

The return of Tiger Woods,  the outstanding play this year of most of the world’s top young golfers,  outstanding play of Phil Mickelson,  the stars all seemed aligned for a great golf show this week in Georgia.   Today was day one of four,  along with some great scores posted was a score for all of us amateurs the defending champion,  Sergio Garcia a (13),  the highest single hole score posted in the Masters.  Yes it can happen to any of us.

Joining us this Saturday on the program,  Nick Myers,  head golf pro at Highland Meadows in Sylvania.   Nick is the host pro every summer for the  LPGA Marathon Classic.   Augusta National made a special announcement yesterday about hosting the first women’s amateur tournament next April before the Masters.   In just 2 years Toledo will host the Solheim Cup,  one of the world’s top events for ladies professional golf.   Nick will  talk about that along with the recent major course changes at Highland Meadows.    Then about 9:15 am ..  we will go right to the Augusta National Press Room live with a report with our friend John Boyette,  the sports Editor for the Augusta Chronicle.

It all promises to be a great golf show Saturday at 9:00 am.  Sunday at 7:00 am.  live and local on 1370 WSPD,  streamed at:  wspd.com remotely on your I-Phone with the I-Heart media app.  And this Saturday on Facebook Live@  “A Firm Foundation for Life”.
