This week’s show – Toledo, and your health

This Saturday we are pleased again to welcome our friend, Mayor Mike Bell of Toledo to the program. Mike is beginning his third year as Toledo’s Mayor, and Saturday begins our 13th consecutive year in talk radio in N. W. Ohio. There is much good to talk about with Mayor Bell, some bad, and some ugly.

In hour #2 Deb Busdecker and other will join us with Wood County Hospital’s segment “to your health”. As we begin a new year, Wood County Hospital has many wellness programs for people to participate in, plus a new program, “Be Healthy Now Wood County” starting February 6th, and you don’t have to be a Wood County resident to participate!

Dust of the tux, get out the formal, Saturday night is the premier social event of the year in Bowling Green, the Annual Chamber Ball, live from the Bowen Thompson Student Union at B.G.S.U.

And when you are at B.G.S.U. who better to have as a feature guest than the new University President, Dr. Mary Ellen Mazey. Tuesday in the State of the Union we heard the order go out to contain college costs and that will be one of many topics we plan on discussing with Dr. Mazey.

Real estate tax duplicates are out for first half real estate taxes. Saturday on A Firm Foundation we will be joined live in the studio with Lucas County Auditor, Anita Lopez.

We will be discussing property values, paying your taxes, (remember, not receiving a duplicate, does not excuse you from not paying on time). Anita will weigh in on foreclosures, tax appeals procedures, levy changes to your tax charges, and many other things relating to local taxes.

This Saturday January 14 is the annual Realtors Ball here in Wood County. The second biggest social event of the year in Bowling Green can usually count on some of the worst weather of the year, but this year, who can remember a nicer stretch of January weather on record?

This Saturday, Christmas Eve is one of the rare occasions that there will be no broadcast of A Firm Foundation Radio show, in 12 years this has only happened 11 times, due to a holiday. We wish everyone a Merry Christmas.

Attached is a photo of all the stockings hung in Pocos Playhouse, in hopes that Santa Claus will be good to all the four legged visitors to Pocos!

This is our last radio show of 2011, no show on Christmas or New Year’s Eve, so we needed to make this show count triple, and we think we have.

We have 5 great Toledo Charities that are going to check in with us starting with Dan Rogers from Cherry Street Mission, Mindy from Seagate Foodbank, Jason Copsey from the Red Cross, Bill Kitson from United Way and Steven Lopes from the Salvation Army.

You will hear first hand the services these groups are providing for Christmas, and throughout the whole year. Plus if you are so inclined during the next few weeks how you can get involved with the work that you would like to support!
