More Water!

April 19th, 2018 by Rick and Jackie

Hey get a load of this!

You have heard recent news about steel and aluminum and tariffs and how important these industries are to the security of our country!   No one ever talks about cement,  the main ingredient in concrete,  the building block of our country.  Very little cement is manufactured in our country anymore,  most of it is imported,  in this area from Canada,  some from Mexico,  and some from very far away.  Where is all the cement going to come from if we re-build the Nation’s infrastructure?

This Saturday at 9:00 am. and Sunday at 7:00 am.  N. W. Ohio’s most trusted hosts welcome back to the program,  Jordan Schmeltz,  one of the principles in Palmer Brothers Concrete,  with plants in Bowling Green,  Fremont,  Tiffin, and Napoleon.   Jordan has grown up in the business and brings wealth of knowledge to this important subject you need to hear about!

A Firm Foundation for Life is heard locally on 1370 WSPD,  can be streamed on the internet at:  <wspd.com>  remotely on your I-Phone with the I-Heart radio media app.  or you can watch the interview on Facebook Live @   “A Firm Foundation for Life”

Pictured with Rick and Jackie from last week’s program is Dr. Tim Murnen,  coordinator of Literacy in the Park which happens Saturday at 10:00 am. at the Perry Field House at B.G.S.U.  Nationally famous author,  Don Tate will be there to do presentations during the event.

Springtime in Augusta  . . . . wintertime still here in Ohio

This Saturday on A Firm Foundation for Life,  our 16th consecutive year of covering one of the world’s greatest sporting events,  the 82nd playing of the Masters Tournament in Augusta, Georgia.   Jim Nantz,  was quoted last week,  “this year’s Masters was the most anticipated in his 33 years of anchoring the Master’s telecasts”.

Wall of Shame

March 30th, 2018 by Rick and Jackie

The world has changed since we were young

My how our world has changed,  violence,  terrorism,  drugs, and so on.   As adults in every thing we do in life,  we need to do our “due diligence”,  defined by assessing all situations of life, for danger.   And if we are responsible for others,  our family members  our employees if we run a business, or have responsibilities for an organization,  like a church group,  or scout troop, or 4-H group,  today, we must ask these questions.   This Saturday on A Firm Foundation for Life, a local expert in these life issues,  Steve Cotner,  President of Corporate Intelligent Consultants in Perrysburg will be our feature guest,  along with some other senior staff from CIC.  With the advent of the internet,  or cell phones,  people can be anybody or anywhere.   Steve Cotner has been in this business since 1977,  Steve has had to evolve just as our world has evolved.   This program is a must,  don’t miss it!

Here are the details:   locally 1370 WSPD,  9:00 am. Saturday 7:00 am. on Sunday,  (Easter).    Streamed live @ wspd.com

Serious Topics

March 8th, 2018 by Rick and Jackie

Some serious topics Saturday on A Firm Foundation for Life,  based on a true story from the Vietnam Memorial where people have been leaving cremains of their relatives at the Wall against the advice of the National Park Service,  now with nearly 100 different cremains that the Park Service doesn’t know how to handle them.   Joining us in studio Dan Billings from Deck-Hanneman Funeral Home & Crematory.   Besides our discussion about the proper handling of a person’s cremains,  we expect a broad discussion about cemetery lots and where one might wish to be buried?   Serious topics Saturday with expert examination by N. W. Ohio’s most trusted hosts,  sacred issues we all face in life.

The program can be heard Saturday at 9:00 am.  and Sunday at 7:00 am.  locally on  1370 WSPD,  streamed on your computer at:  wspd.com,  and remotely anywhere on your I-Phone with the I-Heart media app.

Working in Paradise

March 3rd, 2018 by Rick and Jackie

The first weekend in March and where do you find the hosts of N. W. Ohio’s longest running radio talk show,  A Firm Foundation for Life?    In Naples, Florida on a tough assignment,  but somebody has to do it!   Joining Rick and Jackie,  Robert Mattson as a young man a successful political figure in Minnesota for a short time period,  then built the most successful restaurant in Naples,  a few years later,  reliving his boyhood years,   Bob purchased a remote,  (only accessible by plane),  fishing camp in Northern Ontario.   A big golf fan,  Rick first met Bob at the 1994 Masters in Augusta and the two have been friends ever since.

However,  Saturday’s program has a more serious focus,  in light of the recent severe hurricane in Florida last fall,  Bob’s mother is in a long-term care facility in Florida in need of 24 hour care and electric to run life essential medical equipment.   The question of the program,  “Is it possible to evacuate thousands of people  from long term care facilities for a natural disaster?”

Besides Bob’s insight into this issue,   N. W. Ohio’s most trusted hosts have some opinions on this topic too . . .  living in N. W. Ohio isn’t so bad after all,  never have we had to evacuate!

The program is Saturday at 9:00 am.  Sunday at 7:00 am.  live and local,  on the internet at:   <wspd.com>  and on your I-Phone,  live with the free I-Heart Media app.
